Recently, I interviewed Vilayvann Ky, a software engineer at Google in Mountain View. The full story was published just a few days before the recent announcement of the tech company’s largest lay-off. Fortunately, Vilayvann was not affected. Additionally, I discovered through social media comments that the Cambodian woman had done something unusual: when in Cambodia, she dropped out of her university course to take a diploma course in Europe.
To the best of my knowledge, Vilayvann is the third software engineer from Cambodia who works at Google. The first one is Sarin Supheakmungkol, who has since left to head data and AI at the World Economic Forum in San Francisco. The second one is Chan Dalis.
